Was Desperate, and they took advantage of that...
Me and my boyfriend were expecting. This was my 2nd and his 2nd which gave us a total of 3 children. All we had at the time was a 94 mazda protege. Needless to say...we needed something bigger. I went online and looked at suvs, mini vans, etc. An suv was out of the question as this is when gas prices were just going up. We both liked the look and safety features on the Pontiac Montana. My boyfriend browsed the internet and found jdb's website. He applyed, and they called him the same evening. I remember hearing the radio commercials and it sounded good. Both of us have below average credit and made an average pay for the area we lived in. We went to jdb after work the next day with $700 cash for a down payment (that wasn't enough), got there about 5pm. We talked with nice salesman, he got all our money/bill info, brought in a girl from CNAC and she made us a budget. 3 hours later....they approved us and brought out a van (we had to pay 150 a week for a few weeks to make up the rest of the down payment). What? why this one? We wanted to test drive one of the 4 pontiac montanas they had on the lot....we were confused! We test drove a really nice grand voyager, and like it. And asked if we could test drive another...maybe the montana. The salesman laughed and said "you weren't approved for one of those." Now we were really confused...we were approved-in general, we thought. "Well, what others can we test drive?" I asked. The sales man pointed out ONE other van out of the 15 or so on the lot. It was an 88 caravan with a huge scrape & dent along one whole side of the van. I looked at my boyfriend and he agreed on the voyager. We got a choice of 2 vans! We really needed another car and decided to go with it. We were both really grateful they approved us and let us take the van home that night. We didn't leave jdb until 9pm! The store manager was there, appoligized it took so long and gave us $20 for dinner at mcdonald's. Everyone was nice. I didn't know what kind of place it was before we went. I hate the fact that we didn't get to choose. It took 4 hours. The price was NEVER discussed until the signing of the papers (over $13000, was only worth appx 9000) and the fact that I have to pay $157 every 2 weeks for 3 years. The van has had many problems, conveniently, after my warrenty was up. I would never purchase from there again and would NEVER recommend anyone to go. I would love to get out from under CNAC, trade it, refinace, something! But from what I here...no luck with that. That's my story...

Sorry ot hear that.
But that sounds alot like the situation my fiancee and i got into. only we didn't get a minivan since were not expecting a child. We got into a 2001 chevy cavalier well come to find out the engine mounts were bad from the get go and they sold this vehicle without doing a proper check on the vehicle. We have to take the car in tomorrow after she gets off work to have those replaced. we best not have any more problems withthis vehicle or i will be extremely PO'ed how long have you paid on the car for? Maybe if you are down under how much the vehicle is worth they could be able to do a buyback deal on the vehicle at another dealership.
