Not so bad........
Hey everyone. Just thought I would share my experiences with JD Byrider over the course of the past two years or so.
Anyways, let me start off by saying I found this site while looking up JD Byrider's phone number through Google, as I didn't have my cell phone handy and I wanted to make a payment over the phone.
The reason I am posting on here is just to offer a different perspective on this company, even though this is the "JD Byrider Sucks" website.
Anyways, I purchased a 99 Oldsmobile Alero about 2 years ago. The purchase price was $10,000+ dollars with a mind-numbing 24% interest rate. Was the price too much? Absolutely. Was the interest rate sky high? Of course it was.
However, it is now April 08, and I owe around $4,400.00 on the vehicle. I have ALWAYS made my payments on time, and because of this great payment history I have been told by a few dealers around town that once the CNAC loan is paid in full, I will be in a great position to purchase a vehicle of my choosing at a low interest rate. So one great thing that they have done for me is help me rebuild my credit.
With the car being just that, a car, it has had problems now and then. I was even involved in a collision at one point which caused severe damage to my vehicle. The mechanics have always fixed my vehicle correctly, charge dvery low prices, and have even allowed me to make payments on the repairs if I wish to do so. Yes, the repair costs are low, but it was nice to only pay $10.00/week on the $300.00 collision repair so I did exercise this option.
I have been told that JD Byrider has done me a great dis-service by selling the vehicle to me, and many other negative remarks by other dealers. Perhaps they have financially, but like many others, this was a good option for me when I had no vehicle. Because of them I will know have a better vehicle soon.
The finance manager at the Kalamazoo location told me he never wants me to come to his store again, because I shouldn't have to pay the high interest rates. He said once it's paid off I can go elsewhere, which is exactly what I will be able to do soon.
Maybe their practice is wrong, but I believe that their purpose is right. They have never done anything wrong to me, and I give my kudos to the Kalamazoo, MI location.
Make your payments, deal with your vehicle the best you can, dream of your new car till that day comes.

Helped Us Out When We Needed It The Most
Two and a half years ago my husband lost his trucking business, had to file bankruptcy, and had two heart surgeries--within weeks of each other. We lost everthing--our car and truck, our house--you get the idea. We also had custody of five of our grandkids and needed a car right away. We went to JD Byrider in Columbus, Ohio on New Year's eve that year--2005--we ended up with a Dodge Caravan decently priced and never had any problems with it. Through illness and lay-offs, we paid our bill faithfully and in a few months the van will be paid off. Yes, it was more expensive than normally, but then that is what they do--help people in not so "normal" situations. The people have always been great--courteous and friendly--up until two weeks ago. We got a new account manager after having the same one from the beginning. This new one is rude and obnoxious-even when you are just calling to make a payment. No telling how he will react when he finds out I am out of state for a funeral and will be late on this weeks payment! I will just call their corporate offie and speak to his boss. I am not going to let a bad experience with one worker ruin the good experience I have otherwise had with this company. As always, it is just a matter of location, location, location--and the people who work there. Good luck to all.
J.D. BYRIDER, DELRAY BEACH, FL.
I don't know about the other person, but I am a real customer of J.D. Byrider. What we all have to understand is that there will be good and bad experiences at any car lot you go to, each experience will be different. Yes I agree they are pretty high on their prices, but they have that right to charge what they want, it's up to you to decide rather or not you are willing to pay that. I mean lets be real, it is what it is, if your credit was so great you wouldn't be going to them in the first place so the person to be mad at is yourself for messing up your credit. And I'm not the pot calling the kettle black cause my credit is tore up from the floor up and that is why I am paying whatever they charge me for my vehicle (which I did some research before I purchased my vehicle) and they are not overcharging me. Yes my intrest rate is high, but thats what happens when we take our credit for granted. I'm dealing with it, because trust me, I don't have a dollar to spare. I live from paycheck to paycheck, so I'm not just making high payments because I have the money to spend. And like the other guy said, after I finish paying my truck off I can go anywhere and get a vehicle.
Yes I did have a minor problem with my vehicle that they said my warrenty did not cover and I felt it should have. But it was more of a headache to fight them tooth and nail then to just go find a friend or someone to fix it for me. For those of you who have had major problems and can not afford to fix it and feel that the warrenty should cover it, do what you have to do to make them honor their word. But for those of you who are just trippin about the prices, you have too much time on your hands. Do your homework before you go car shopping. Then at that point, you can do one of two things, you can buy, or don't buy, thats your choice.
Yes, it is ironic.
I know it's not about me, it's about everyone who has dealt with JD Byrider, which I have. This makes me part of the group. :)
I was overcharged around 2k, as I did look up the NADA value prior to purchasing. To overcome their high interest rates, I have paid an additional $1,000.00 into my loan so that most of my payments are applied towards the principal as opposed to interest. If one can afford it, this is one way to defeat sky high rates.
Are you a nut?
Words almost fail me. There can only be two reasons for a post like this, either you enjoy people overcharging you and paying incredible amounts of money for no legitmate reason. Or once again we have another JD manager pretending to be a real customer and trying to get the rest of us to believe that your experience is real. No one enjoys being taken advantage of to the extent that JD does, there are alternatives that are less costly and offer a better deal to those who are financially challenged. So take your pick.....nut or manager? Wait a minute, you have to be a nut to be a manager with JD!
Manager or Nut
Please inform me, what alternatives are there? I visited several other dealerships prior to stepping into JD Byrider, no one would finance me without a co-signer. So please inform me, what alternatives are available?
Did I enjoy paying high costs for a vehicle worth less? Of course not, but it was necessary for me to do so in order to rebuild my credit. I can whine or complain about it, but there wouldn't be no sense in that.
Next time when you reply, try to offer valid arguments instead of just ramblings that repeat themselves all over this message board. It was already established that JD Byrider overcharges their customers, but yet you had to bring it up in your post and "attempt" to insult me by calling me a "nut." I've heard better insults from my two year old daughter, and I think she could provide a better argument than this. Is this really your rational for hating JD Byrider?
Did I insult you?
The only reason that I can see for you to take offense is because what I say must be true. Let's say you were a legitamate customer of JD's, and they have overcharged you by who knows how many thousands of dollars for a vehicle that was worth maybe 4 or 5 thousand, tops. Logically you should be mad at them, a flaw in your thinking, possibly what got you into financial problems in the first place. Bad precedent to pass on to a two year old, daddy doesn't manage his money well. Yes I have had multiple posts on this site, I am passionate about spreading the word of a dishonest company. This site is full of story after story of people who have been taken advantage of, and there are other sites that do the same thing about JD. If you read some of my other posts, you would know I worked for these crooks for a short period of time and witnessed first hand the kind of garbadge that they sell and what they do to get around the laws. When the proper authority comes calling I have documentation to prove my case, do you? The state of Kentucky has laid out the facts pretty well on what issues JD has and the type of business that they do. You might do a bit of research to find out if I am telling the truth or not. You might also do a bit of research about finding a secondary lender in your area who would help you out, some have been identified in these posts, I won't do it for you. JD is not there to help anyone but themselves at the expense of many other poorly informed victims, this is how they do business. And no matter how often you or anyone else come to thier defense, the facts speak for themselves.
Look again.....
I suggest you read my post again, as I told you that I was not insulted/nor offended.
As I mentioned before, the fact that JD Byrider overcharges their customers has long been established, but as usual, you still bring it up in everyone of your posts. I am well aware that I paid thousands of dollars over the NADA value, and no I do not care. Why? Because it allowed me to rebuild my credit. Also, my credit was not "flawed" as you put out, I had no credit at the time and have not made any financial mistakes. I manage my money very well as I would certainly hope so seeing I am pursuing a finance major. Again, let me restate this since you fail to recognize obvious facts. I KNOW JD BYRIDER OVERCHARGES PEOPLE FOR THEIR VEHICLES! You do not have to repeat that over and over again.
You asked if I had proper documentation to prove my case. What case are you referring to? I was stating my opinion of JD Byrider, not pleading a case to anyone. So would you like to rephrase the question to a more reasonable one?
There are no other lenders located here in Kalamazoo, Michigan that would have financed me at that time. Your lack of mentioning names speaks for itself, and I think you pulled that statement out of thin air.
Furthermore, I have no interest in you or your history with JD Byrider. Besides, someone once told me "You have to be a nut to be a manager for JD!" Isn't this a case of the pot calling the kettle black?
As far as your lawsuits go, I could care less about that as well. Let's stick to the subject of this forum before you damage your credibility any further. You seem to just spew everything you can think of about JD Byrider in your posts instead of taking a logical approach. What does a lawsuit have to do with me being a happy customer? Are you trying to persuade me that I am not happy? The point of this post was to prove that I am a satisfied customer, knowing that I was overcharged but at the same time was able to build credit. It's not about their shady practices, about your personal history, or about any lawsuits.
Again, you seem to think that I am supporting JD Byrider's cause or that I am defending them. I'm not, they overcharged me but at the same time I have established my credit because of them. There were no secondary lenders available, and I had no other options. All of the lawsuits against them cannot take that away.
Okay you're not mad.
I accept your apology, and believe me I won't state again that JD and CNAC "overcharge thier customers!" But this web site is not about you, it's to help all the other dissatisfied customers of JD and CNAC. I do have one question......your pursuing a finance major and you still used JD and were overcharged 10 maybe 15 thousand dollars? Oh the irony!
You say...
You say "there are alternatives"? Where? Why not list some to help people out?
Options
You would have to live in Michigan to know the alternatives but they are there as the competition is strong in most areas in secondary financing. Most dealers are not making as much money off their new cars so they have moved to secondary. Most real dealerships now have a secondary lending facility so my advice to people would be to go to one of them and find out what is needed and then do what is required.
One of the big reasons people go to JDB is they feel special there where they don't at a normal dealership. You may have to wait until the down money is saved or get a co buyer but you will save in the long run and get a MUCH better vehicle. JDB is just a fancy jacked up corner Buy/Here Pay/Here lot selling alot of junk. In fact car people don't even see them as a car lot but they are only a finance company dealing with people who can't/don't manage their money well and needs someone to constantly call them to get them to pay.
