...Sticking it to JD Byrider and CNAC like they stuck it to us...

Las Vegas Byrider

We had both lost our jobs in 2003 and in late 2004, after beginning to recover from losing everything, the one vehicle we had began to act up. We went to Byrider because we had no choice. We bought our first vehicle from them in January 2005. We are both mechanically inclined so, we anticipated that a vehicle with 90,000+ miles on it would have some issues. The first thing we disliked was them telling us 'which' vehicle we could purchase. But, we were basically in a 'no choice' situation. The car turned out to be a fairly good one and with regular maintenance, it is still running pretty well with 192,500 miles on it. In July 2005, we went back (you can't rebuild your credit in 6 months) for another vehicle from Byrider. (Yes, we were well aware we were paying 3 times the Blue Book value for the vehicles). Three days after taking possession of this second vehicle, we took it to an independent location for an oil change and lube. The next day, a rod started knocking (they had evidently doctored the engine fluids to disquise the damage to the engine, there are ways to do that). We immediately took it back to Byrider however, it was 5:15 pm by the time we got there and the Servie Manager Mike had already gone. One of their lame mechanics told us "Oh, just go ahead and drive it home, it'll be fine". Well, as stated, we know cars so, we informed him that were not taking it anywhere and left it parked there. The service manager did make arrangements, as it was still under warranty, and replaced the engine. However, I can guarantee that during this process, due to the constant misinformation about when the car would be ready etc., I became a Service Manager's worst nightmare. After they figured out that we wouldn't put up with their nonsense, for the balance of 2005 and 2006, we got pretty good service out of them. Then, sometime in 2007, an new owner named Ross takes over the franchise. Since then, every mechanically repair they do (and we pay for most of them) are half assed and just cause other problems. There has not been a repair done in the last 6 months that didn't require an additional 3 trips back to them in the first 2 weeks. This costs us a fortune because we have to rent a replacement vehicle and one of us is a medical courier and has actually been put in the position of this incompetence endangering a patient. The latest was last week, the vehicle had a pulley sieze breaking the serpentine belt. We told them to 'take their time' and throughly check the vehicle out as we had rented a car (again) for a week so they would have plenty of time. The day after(yesterday) beginning to drive it again, it has blown a head gasket in the middle of a medical run. Mike, the Service Manager at Las Vegas lies about checking these vehicles out and get's upset if you call him on it. They have gotten where they just half ass do any repairs and think that is O.K.. I will do everything in my power to track down the owner Ross and give him a piece of my mind. We have been, by their own admission (and CNAC's) the perfect client. Never a late payment, etc. Even CNAC has told us they wish all their clients were like us. Did we get ourselves into this? Yes, to some degree. Did we know that to some extent it was a ripoff? Sure we did but, sometimes life doesn't give you choices. But, there is absolutely NO excuse for half assed work and lying about it especially when the customer is 'paying' for the repair. In the beginning, when their service department had some integrity, I was willing to accept what they did for those of us that didn't have choices but, now that they lie and cheat even 'paying' service customer's, they are definately on my S____ list.

This is gonna hurt... :-)

druww, you are right. If the service manager won't help you or sit down with you and explain a situation then you should go to the owner. Write a letter. Visit the showroom. There is no excuse for poor service. It seems like you were doing your end of the bargain and the Service center is the department that has let you down. My *ASSUMPTION* here is that you have had an outstanding loan (multiple?) with CNAC for the past 2-3 years so why not try to upgrade yourself? A positive car loan on your credit will help dramatically! Just don't over do it! If you get approved don't get into a HUGE payment that will knock you back down where you have to start all over again! Try small first like a Kia or Ford Focus?
